Synthetix grantsDAO is introducing a Quadratic Funding Grants Round as part of Gitcoin Grants round 12. This will be held on gitcoin.co and is open to grantees who are invited to be part of this private side round and meet the eligibility criteria. The selection criteria for this curated list of projects is done based on the Retroactive Public Goods Grants model we have adopted. It will be up to the community to decide how to allocate $50,000 of Synthetix’s Grant funding. Only donations during Grants round 12 will be counted towards the Quadratic funding distribution of the matching funds. We are excited to see how the community will participate in the funding of these Public Goods projects!

Eligibility Criteria

Synthetix grantsDAO holds sole discretion on which grants are eligible and disputes can be handled in a similar way as Gitcoin Grants disputes are handled where instead of Gitcoin’s stewards offering an escalation path, Synthetic Grants officials will be consulted. Here are the key factors when determining if your grant is eligible to be included in the Synthetix side round:

  1. The Grant must be a free to use or very cheap to use Public Goods project
  2. The Grant must be in support of, or directly advancing the larger DeFi community
  3. The Grant must at least indirectly be in support of the Synthetix community
  4. The Grant may not have any form of quid pro quo that has financial value (a scenario in which a user gets some additional unique benefit/award in return for their donation)
  5. The Grant owner must be directly affiliated with the project and the funds must go to the project
  6. The Grant should be focused on accomplishing the following:
  • Usability — improving the user experience
  • Information — provide data & information
  • Community — growing the ecosystem
  • Tooling — improving the developer experience
  • Governance — building tools and enhancements for governance
  • Protocol Politicians — campaigns for governance champions and delegates

7. The project should not have its own token, or have raised VC funding (let’s keep the funds for the aspiring projects!)

8. The Grant should be open source

Getting Started

Head over to Gitcoin and create a Grant. Select the Category that best aligns to your project, and also make sure to select Synthetix as a Subcategory — Grants can have multiple tags, so please select all that apply. Grants need to be approved (to be on the Gitcoin platform) and your subcategory of Synthetix may be removed if you do not meet these criteria (above). Reach out to support@gitcoin.co if you have any questions.

*If you already have a Gitcoin Grant, please open a Github Issue here and ask Gitcoin to add the Synthetix tag to your Grant. The Gitcoin team will check eligibility before taking this action, but once added your grant will be included in the round.*
