Created by Respawn Entertainment workshop, TitanFall 1 is a unique FPS game and the first game to bring player controllable robots into online team up FPS game. The unique features earned TitanFall more than 60 awards in E3. However, the game can hardly be said complete comparing to its sequence TitanFall 2. But at the time when TitanFall is published (2014 March). nobody cares about the unfinished components of TitanFall. The only regret at that time might be that the game does not have a story mode.

Although the game does not have a story mode, the game’s background information and plot is reviewed through special events that happens randomly when objective is reached by one team. The story of TitanFall basically reviews there are two main opposing forces in the world of Titanfall: the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation and the Frontier Militia.

The Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation, or IMC, is an huge business corporation with its influence spreading to the furthest reaches of the space. the Frontier. It’s concerned with acquiring raw materials, some of which are key to the manufacture of Titans. Titans are built by Hammond Robotics, one of the IMC’s corporate allies. Its business is laser-focused on driving wealth and profit, a goal with which the Frontier Militia interferes.

The Frontier Militia was formed in response to destroy the IMC. Through a century of influence, the IMC’s power extends beyond what would be expected of a normal corporate entity. If the IMC discovers resources in a system, its settlers are cleared out and those who resist are killed. The militia is a collection of freedom fighters, members of various unsavory vocations like piracy, and frontier homesteaders. It’s the biggest enemy of the IMC. The Militia is more or less a loosely organized confederation of smaller groups.

Each group wants to control the frontier for its own purpose. The IMC seeks to continue its corporate exploitation of the valuable resources of the frontier. The Militia exists to protect the rights and properties of the individuals live in the wild space. The difference in the core philosophies of how the Frontier should be exploited is what drives Titanfall’s conflict.

As the title of the game says, the most important feature and the most attracting feature of this game is the Titans. Titans are future tech war machines created to replace soldiers in battles. The Titan must be controlled by its pilot, who are the soldiers designed to fight with the Titans with their exoskeleton and Titan controlling training.

The Titans are basically an evolution of combat exoskeletons and traditional tanks. They serve both functions, allowing a Pilot to multiply strength and ability, while also having the arms and armor required for battle. Titans are not controlled like other heavy machinery of war, but instead work as extension of a Pilot’s body, true to their exoskeleton roots. Controlling one, then, is as easy as moving around. This gives Titans a speed and agility not normally seen in mechs.

Different Titans have different attributes and specialities. The Atlas Titan chassis, the first produced by Hammond, is the “all-around Titan,” striking a balance of armor and maneuverability between the other two. The Ogre variant sacrifices movement for heavier armor, while the Stryder trades armor for agility.

The game itself is a 6vs6 FPS with different winning objective depends on the mode playing. Besides the 12 players who are the only ones who can use Titans, the game automatically drops AI players that are created intentionally to be killed. Killing the AIs will grant players faster charging on TItan dropping, while in Titan mode killing certain amount of AI will grant power ups to the Titan.

There are three modes in the game. The major mode in this game is Attraction. In Attraction players must kill other players, AIs and Titans to obtain certain points, ranked from Titan>Pilot>AIs. The first team to obtain 300 points wins the game. The second mode of the game is capture the flag. In this classic FPS mode the players have to capture flags by standing on the area with flags for a certain time to capture it. Points will automatically go up as more flags are captured and as the time passes. The last mode of the game is Pilot Death Match. In this mode no players can respawn and there is only Titan battles and no pilot battles.

The well designed features gained TitanFall a nice feedback among FPS lovers. Theis believed as a pioneer of multi-action FPS combined with robots battling. The game was given a 8.9 out of 10 by GameSpot. It was quite shocking how much achievement TitanFall had gained.
