Eastwood and John Wayne flicks always used instantly recognized (by their dark tint) vilains who would be Mexican, Apache, etc. — a Hollywood staple generally. The later police flicks were no better and made extreme brutality cool, usually against darker folks. OTOH, he has had brilliant offerings as director but stupidity haunts all if us and always will.
