$100K raised for the Chicago Tech Academy as #chicagotech rallies for S.T.E.M.

Hudson River Trading Takes the Trophy, with Enova Coming in 2nd Place out of 64 teams

Chicago, November 19, 2018 — T4Youth, Chicagoland’s charity tech table tennis tournament, hosted its fifth annual event on November 14, and it was a major fundraising, team-building, and awareness-raising success. There was a record turnout, with the main competition featuring 64 teams from Chicago tech companies — easily besting last year’s record of 51 teams — and 40 CEOs, CTOs, and founders of Chicago tech companies competing in the Executive Challenge. In total, the event raised $100,000 for the Chicago Tech Academy (ChiTech).

Throughout the evening, SPiN Chicago was humming. Tech companies from across the city and across industries built camaraderie across the tables, participating in focused but friendly competition. Students from ChiTech circulated to help sell raffle tickets and engage with players who wanted to know more about the school.

At about 11:30 PM that night, Hudson River Trading took home the trophy, knocking out a game and perennial contender, Enova. For many, the bigger prize was gathering so many people from the Chicago technology industry to inform them about and encourage them in giving back to underserved youth in the community.

“It’s inspiring to see today’s tech leaders come together and raise money to help ChiTech in its mission to create a diverse next generation of tech leaders,” said Drew Mauck, CEO of 3Points Communications and a T4Youth co-founder. “As people working in tech, we all have a responsibility to build a more inclusive tech community, and that starts with providing education and access for children who would otherwise not have those resources.”
