Where to burg this Australia Day in Sydney
No matter how you feel about Australia Day in 2019, there’s one thing everyone can agree on. When it’s hot outside and the beers are cold inside there's nothing better to fill that burger sized hole in your stomach than a classic works burger — pineapple, beetroot and a fried egg.
Here are a few of our favourites.
Chicken & Sons (Chatswood, Lilyfield, Marrickville & Surry Hills)
Normally you stick to the chicken when you’re at a chicken shop. When it’s Australia day though and that chicken shop is Chicken & Sons, it’s a pretty safe bet you’re going to get a cracker burger regardless…
Happy Ending Burgers (Concord)
It wouldn't be an Australia Day without the Ritz being at the table. Gee’s special infusion of flavours shines through in this Aussie Day special, with Ritz Cracker Crumbed Fried Chicken.
Cranky’s Canteen (Lake Heights)
The relative newcomers on this list are situated at Lake Heights just out of Wollongong. What could be more Aussie than going for a swim at the beach and closing the day out with a burger like this?
Two Hungry Bears (Brookvale)
Two Hungry Bears have been causing a stir with their first special of the year, the Mr. Miyagi. They're also bringing it closer to home with their latest special and celebrating this great land of burgers with lamb ribs!
Brades Burgers (Parramatta)
Some of the highest rated specials in the TBC app (think K-Pop) have come out of the Brades Burgers fantasy factory. It’s no surprise that they’ve thrown their hats into the ring for Australia Day. Pack up your swags, let's go!
Another Burger Joint (Wollongong & Warrawong)
Normally throwing their efforts into the Japanese theme, ABJ is kicking it old school and doing an Aussie Burger, chips and beer for twenty bucks!
Sunset Diner (Avalon Beach)
Walk into this new seventies-esque diner and you’ll likely settle in for the day. The outdoor dining area at the back of the venue sets the tone for beers and cocktails after getting stuck into some pretty fine burgers.
