“The Dresser Drawer”

The Dresser Drawer — — Letters From Home — ( Memories That Stay Collection )

It’s Funny, I couldn’t Seem To Grow Up Fast Enough. Getting Over To

The Other Side Of The Mountains, Pass The Fields, And Finding Out

What The Big City Had To Offer, Was All That I Could Think About.

We Didn’t Have Much, There Were A Lot Of Us, And The Dresser Drawer

Was My Bed! I Got Old Enough To Notice, And Those Greyhounds And

Trailways Said That There Was Something Outside Of This Town!

Their Visit Was Nice, But They Were Only Passing Through And Couldn’t

Or Wouldn’t Stay. The City Held Great Promise In My Dreams. Sure Seemed

Like A Lot Of Life Got Lived In A Short Period Of Time. Fast Movin, City

Slicken! What Happened To All The Plans I Had? I’d Even Heard, If You

Could Get There, You’d Get A Free Car.

Sittin On The Porch Watchin Cows And Chickens Wasn’t Enough For Me, But

I Sure Did Learn That The Years Between 30 And Out Had A Way Of Makin

You Long For That Dresser Drawer!
