In 2020, the TMCx program will refocus on the specific priorities of the TMC Member Institutions when curating each new cohort.

TMC Innovation is proud to announce a major change to its accelerator model. The Innovation team conducted more than 100 interviews with clinicians, hospital administrators, advisors, investors, other accelerators, corporate partners, and TMCx alumni companies to evaluate how to best align the program to each of their needs and interests.

The result of this customer discovery is a remodeled accelerator program that will prioritize engagement between member institutions and startup companies. In the new model, member institutions are have more direct impact on the companies accepted into the program. Companies will be recruited and curated to match their specific priorities. For TMCx companies, this means more engagement opportunities with users and customers throughout the program.

Who should apply:

  1. Any company that does or will sell a product to a hospital or one of our member institutions
  2. Digital health companies that have already piloted in a clinic or hospital
  3. Medical device companies with preclinical efficacy in animal models
  4. International companies with strong preclinical or clinical evidence outside the US

How it works:

  1. Companies apply here by December 13th
  2. TMC Innovation team and partners evaluate the fit of each company
  3. TMC Innovation team interviews select companies
  4. Member Institution partners provide feedback about the companies
  5. Finalists are invited to attend a 2 week bootcamp Feb 24 — Mar 6. Companies will have meetings with clinical and business advisors during this time.
  6. TMC Innovation team incorporates feedback from member institution, investor, and corporate partners to select the TMCx cohort from among the finalists.
  7. TMCx companies will participate in the Houston-based cohort programming for 2.5 days per month for 6–12 months (depending on milestones set by the company). Programming will be customized to each company and focused on customer engagement. A founder or C-suite member is expected to attend the bootcamp and each program session.

Program goals

Our TMCx program is designed to build lasting relationships between healthcare startup companies and their customers. We measure outcomes related to customer engagement including signed customer agreements, pilots, clinical trials, and preclinical studies with our member institutions.

We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of companies to our TMC Innovation community in Spring 2020.
