My Eyes Are Up Here, Dude

A poem

Little girls
dream of puberty
as some period
of magical metamorphosis
into a Woman™️;

I want it back,
that Naïveté.

History,
She did not know
what curves and scars
Future painstakingly sculpted
onto her body.

Marked by Mother Nature,
handled by men.

Two decades now
She’s endured curses
masquerading as compliments,
shadowed by threats
and claims of ownership

-by Nice Guys™️ who just need a chance
to feed on Beauty & Strength.

Ice cold and intimidating
for maintaining a fire
for Herself,
built up with sparks of Hope
and blazes of Pride.

She was asking for it,
shining over there without permission.

An Artist’s landscape,
never recognized
or respected
as the Battlefield it is
and will always be.

I command the gate -
my eyes are up here.
