Wireframe Feedback: Plan of Action
Creating Wireframes is a great way to get the ideas of the look and layout of a website into a visual representation.
Introduction
During my formative presentation of the proposed site I will be making for my client, Harry Seaton, a singer/songwriter. I gathered feedback from the lecturer and peers in my class. Some of these I will accept and others i will reject.
Current Issues
On the presentation, I included some current issues such as there being no efficient way of generating ticket sales and there is no way for fans to interact due to no website. Peers accepted this issue and felt that the best way to generate ticket sales and allow for fans to get a greater understanding would be through a website.
Aims
I also included the aims expected of the website. These included a way for fans to interact, to generate more ticket sales and to have an interactive site. I explained how these would be met and they agreed that this is attainable.
Recipe Web Page
I then showed the development of my web page. The feedback gathered from this was that the layout was in keeping with web trends using the 960px grid system and that Skeleton should be used for the harry seaton website. This feedback will be considered and will be used to give my website a clear layout that is responsive.
Moodboard
The Mood board was created on Pinterest, it featured images that were inspiration for the site and branding that I will be creating. When showing my peers they agreed that the images used and creating it on Pinterest was a great idea. This also allowed for the client to add their own inspiration and to provide each other with inspiration easily using Pinterest invite to board feature.
Paper Wireframes
The feedback gathered from the paper wireframes that I mocked up was very useful. Whilst the majority liked the layout that looked and followed to web conventions, they felt that it needed a 960px Grid system which was not used. This feedback will be used to better the site when I make it. Another piece of useful feeedback was that I used boxes without any description of the type of content or example etc. By adding this would allow a better understanding for any future projects.
Digital Wireframes
I then showed the digital wireframes which were the second draft. These were creating using an online mockup tool and included links and hotspots allowing you to click through and get a feel of how a user could navigate on the site. My peers found this feature very useful in getting a feel for how the site will function and be accessible, however again like the previous paper wireframes, I didn’t have any actual content such as no description of the image, just a label of the content.
Branding
The branding of the site needed to fit the branding already existing for Harry Seaton. This was the colours of his latest album and used many blues, black and white. This will be used throughout the site when creating due to the feedback received suggesting that this will look professional and create an even stronger house style.
Further Predictions
I also listed some further predictions that I feel I would like to try out during the project to develop my skills and understanding. One of these is to expiment with Javascript and jQuery. This recieved mixed feedback with some saying that this would be essential and others suggesting that It may be difficult. Despite some negative feedback, I am going to experiment and help develop my knowledge further.
Summary
One final piece of feedback received was that the presentation did not flow as well as it could have. The feedback recieved suggested moving a few slides around to make it easier for peers to understand and provide me with more valuable feedback. This has been taken on board and will be considered heavily when presenting my summative presentation.
