Co-Opting Grief on Social Media: Thoughts, Prayers, and Flags

Well written and thoughtful. I think when tragedy happens, it causes quite a cognitive dissonance for a person to live a happy life yet sympathize with the victims; however by relieving that dissonance, do social media outlets just keep people docile — unable to reflect on their discomfort and take actions?
