April 21, 2016 (New York, NY) — A+E Networks and HISTORY are proud to announce that it will be taking their four-year partnership with Team Rubicon USA global. On April 25th, HISTORY will join forces with the Team Rubicon Global international expansion project to rollout a 60-second PSA ( in the United Kingdom in support of Team Rubicon UK, the first international affiliate of the veterans volunteer group whose mission is to unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams to disaster zones. This is the first step for Team Rubicon Global’s international expansion, with further affiliates planned in Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Turkey, and Poland over the next five years.

As Team Rubicon Global continues to grow in these and other countries, HISTORY will be by their side, using the power of television — on-air, online and in communities — to help raise awareness and support their missions. HISTORY will kick-off this next level of support by producing and distributing an additional companion PSA to air throughout the remaining countries currently targeted for expansion.

Team Rubicon ( was founded in 2010 by two U.S. Marines who organized a humanitarian aid expedition to Haiti following the disastrous Port-au-Prince earthquake. In the years since, Team Rubicon has grown from eight volunteers to 35,000, serving over 120 communities that have been scarred by hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes and wildfires. This global rapid response mission coincides with Team Rubicon’s highly personal mission to ex-forces themselves: to showcase their skills, character, and dignity to a world that sometimes views veterans as a liability; and to give ex-forces members a continuing outlet to serve. Team Rubicon UK, a registered British charity launched by Team Rubicon Global in 2015, is the first new Team Rubicon since the founding of Team Rubicon USA in 2010.

In April 2015, the UK-based charity was instrumental in providing emergency assistance and rebuilding important sites following the Nepal earthquake. On the earthquake’s one-year anniversary on April 25, 2016, HISTORY will launch a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign to support Team Rubicon UK. In March 2016, Prince Harry extended his stay in Nepal specifically to help Team Rubicon UK rebuild a remote school that was decimated by the earthquake.

The 60-second campaign promo was conceived and created by A+E Networks USA and UK’s in-house creative teams. The new PSA campaign will feature volunteers — military and civilian — who will share their firsthand accounts of service with Team Rubicon UK, from the moment they first heard about a disaster, to the frenzied preparations to pack, travel and organize a response; and finally, to their experiences in the disaster zone, where they deployed their unique skill set to provide victims and communities the emergency assistance they needed at the moment it was needed most. Featured speakers will also reflect on the letdown they felt at the end of their military service and how “putting on the grey shirt of Team Rubicon” gives them a renewed sense of purpose by allowing them to continue to serve, even while out of uniform.

Team Rubicon UK volunteers appearing in the PSA include:

David Wiseman: David is a former Infantry Officer with the British Army and graduate of the University of Manchester who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. David was shot in the chest during a combat patrol in Afghanistan and in the time since his recovery, has been instrumental in helping other wounded Service Personnel and Veterans through the charity “Walking with the Wounded,” as the Project Manager for the Endeavor Fund, as the Deputy Events Director at the Invictus Games 2014, and now as the Head of Armed Forces Programs at the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. David was drawn to help the people of Nepal after the devastating April 2015 earthquake and has been heavily involved with Team Rubicon since returning to the UK from that deployment. David was recently recognized by Prime Minister David Cameron for his work with Team Rubicon UK’s efforts in the recent floods of Tadcaster. David recently worked alongside Prince Harry in Nepal for Team Rubicon UK’s most recent operation.

Georgia Yurkwich-Spink: An expedition manager for a school in her day-to-day life, Georgia manages the logistics of sending students into the developing world from the perspective of project management, risk management, and customer care. Recently, Georgia deployed with Team Rubicon UK for Op Calcaria in Tadcaster where she was given the role of Logistics Manager. She is an ex-Dragon Boat athlete and a Crossfit enthusiast.

Matt Fisher: Matt served in the British Army in the 3 Rifles Regiment in and around Sangin, Afghanistan, where he was wounded by a gunshot to the foot, an injury that ultimately resulted in the amputation of his leg below the knee. Matt discovered Team Rubicon UK while completing the “1000 Mile Walk” around the UK in 2015 in conjunction with the “Walking with the Wounded” charity. Matt has deployed to Keswick, Cumbria, in response to disastrous flooding, and Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, where he was a Team Leader, and Nepal in Team Rubicon UK’s most recent operation.

Paul Taylor: Paul enlisted in the British Army at the age 16 and served for 26 years in dozens of operations worldwide, including Afghanistan, before leaving the Army in 2011. Paul works as an expedition leader and wilderness medic and in 2015 he was leading a group of school kids through Nepal three weeks before the first earthquake struck.
He immediately got involved with Team Rubicon UK and his extensive military background and medical skills saw him put straight to work in Katmandu. In addition to serving in the Himalayas, Paul has also deployed on Team Rubicon operations to South Carolina (USA) and Keswick, Tadcaster, UK.
