Recapping Two Days at the 2015 Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference

Held every two years since 1953, the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference brings together Republicans from around the country to tiny Mackinac Island — located between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. This year’s lineup of presidential contenders speaking to the conference included Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, and Rand Paul (Scott Walker cancelled, then re-scheduled, then cancelled again due to poor weather conditions).

Additionally, numerous panels, events, and happy hours (both official and un-official) kept the attendees busy and the walks around the island, there are no cars allowed, brisk.

Below are 12 pictures (all taken by my iPhone 6) that describe some of the conference.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush spoke on Friday.
The lectern after Friday’s speeches were through + Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.
John Kasich supporters make their voices heard Friday outside the Grand Hotel.
Members of the Michigan congressional delegation (L-R: Justin Amash, Dan Benishek, Bill Huizenga, Special Guest Ryan Zinke of Montana, Moderator Michael Patrick Shiels, Candice Miller, John Mo0lenaar, Fred Upton, and Tim Walberg) took part in a spirited Q&A on Saturday.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz kicks off lunch on Saturday.
And then speaks with the Michigan media on the famous Grand Hotel porch afterwards.
Ohio Governor John Kasich also spoke during the lunch hour on Saturday.
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder delivered remarks and also sat down for a Q&A with veteran Michigan political reporter Rick Albin Saturday afternoon.
Businesswoman Carly Fiorina during the Saturday dinner hour.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul ended the Saturday night dinner session and also took home the Detroit News/MIRS straw poll victory with 22% of the vote.
Horn’s Bar — home to maybe the most famous moment of the weekend.

The end.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
