TU Delft gets silver! Rower Chantal Achterberg took home silver with her team in Women’s quadruple sculls. She graduated from the university with a degree in life sciences in 2009 and rows for Proetus.

Our little reactor has been causing a bit of a stir this week. City councillor Jan Peter de Wit wants armed guards to be placed at the complex and is concerned that the gate is left open during business hours. However, Bert Wolterbeek, the director of RID, said that “De Wit (and others) do not see the invisible security.” The safety regulations are, “completely in line with that of other Dutch nuclear facilities.” In fact, during security exercises several years ago, RID scored the highest.

Weird Science

In 1957, the legendary microbiologist Stanley Falkow started asking patients at his hospital to swallow their own poop. Now a bacterial pill that tried to duplicate the benefits of a fecal transplant has failed a clinical trial.
