Dads Influence More than Their Daughter’s Choices in Men

On Valentine’s Day, I wrote a post a bit of an ode to my dad, but also to all the dads out there who have been supporting our TechGirlz. The post plays off of Audi’s Super Bowl spot, the one where a dad ponders how he can support his daughter’s amibtion and confidence, even when the world may not.

I pointed to studies which showcased how dad’s interactions on the home front and time spent with their daughter’s, had direct influence on their career choices and confidence levels.

I received so many nice notes from men, but so many notes from women, whose dad’s had been their support in their careers. I was glad to have recognized that strengthening women and girls includes men.

It seems like there may be a trend around dads and daughters as the following week, I saw a full page ad by Mattel touting their new initiative — Dads Who Play Barbie . It is great to see this momentum around this conversation and I hope to see more.
