In Which I Get My First “I Have to Pay For My Own Heat Now” Electric Bill
Nicole Dieker

I have gas heat. Unfortunately, I also have a broken gas heater right now, so I have no heat. I am reluctant to call someone to fix it, because (1) I am busy, (2) I am cheap, and (3) the same heater also seemed broken at the beginning of each of the last two winters, and after three or four weeks it would “fix itself.”

While it is broken, however, if you turn it on and the house is colder than the thermostat setting, it will click on and blow very cold air through the house, creating an additional windchill factor.
