On Alertness and Concentration
Alertness come from devoting one’s whole essence to everything at each moment of existence whereas concentration is the capacity of focusing on a single subject for a length of time. An alert person is aware of things beyond the simple point at hand, he includes the plants, the animals, the stars, the interconnection among things and so on and so forth whereas concentration deliberately ignores other things aiming to centralize its power within a limited and desired scope. In other words, alertness is inclusive while concentration is exclusive. Due to its irrevocable capacity of inclusion, alertness is a powerful trait to be developed by any individual because it allows a person to embrace the fascinating and revealing complexity, interconnectedness and majestic puzzle of life, which goes far beyond of one’s own limited pursuit, temporary ambitions, petty little problems, conditioned ideas, fugacious pleasures and fickle feelings. Alertness is total awareness because everything is included. (Tadany — 06 10 14)
