Creating Security: the Tael label

A behind-the-scenes look at the production process of our anti-counterfeit label.

The Tael NFC label is the lynchpin of our safe product ecosystem. While the Tael token is used to incentivize and reward participants inside the ecosystem, its effectiveness as such is wholly reliant on the advantages provided by our proprietary labels.

Through a combination of state-of-the-art blockchain & RFID/NFC technology and the ensured verifiable authenticity of items on both a digital & physical level, we’ve created a way for consumers to rest assured in the validity of their purchase. Now we want to give the community an inside look at the production process of our anti-counterfeit technology.

High-tech beginnings.

Our legacy first iteration anti-counterfeit label was more than met the eye and featured by the likes of Reuters.

The initial version of our anti-counterfeit label drew a lot of attention, in part due to its unique ability to protect products not just digitally (with the help of blockchain technology) but also by physically preventing tampering attempts from going undetected. We’ve come a long way since that first iteration of our anti-counterfeit label.

Forward progress and major scaling generated a significant leap forward in the label’s underlying anti-counterfeit technology. This upgrade allowed for additional IoT features & improved label robustness while retaining the label’s cost-efficient nature for mass application on FMCG.

The latest iteration of the Tael anti-counterfeit label contains a host of new capabilities.

To achieve this, we vetted an extensive list of potential suppliers able to create Tael anti-counterfeit labels to our exact specifications. And it was in the Dongguan, Guangdong province, that we found a supplier capable of providing us with the level of quality we require.

Creating high-technology anti-counterfeit labels demands a multitude of resources.

Producing the label.

Operating a brand new facility founded in 2017, our Tael anti-counterfeit label supplier has been developing RFID chips and solutions for a wide variety of industry partners which includes petroleum, automobile, general logistics, and more. The facility provides a comprehensive service (including multi-layer printing, encoding, lamination, quality control, etc.) to ensure that even at the moment of production, the Tael labels remain untampered.

The multi-layer printing, encoding, and lamination processes are subject to strict quality controls.

With a Research & Development department consisting of 30 professionals, we’re assured of the Tael labels conforming to our specifications:

    to endure extensive supply chain journeys across the world.

    to allow consumers to verify whether their product was tampered with, no matter where the product was bought.
  • Proof of Consumption
    to gather vital data on consumer consumption rates of products, allowing brands to improve their marketing campaigns.

    to assure future-ready development, our labels incorporate OpenSense, smart tag capabilities, multi-encryption technology, and more.

In addition, this collaboration with our label supplier allows us to upgrade future batches of labels from NTAG 213 TT chips to NTAG 424 DNA chips, allowing for even more versatility. We’ll be revisiting our technological upgrades in future articles and announcements, so stay tuned!
