TaleAStory — Storytelling reinvented

Media kit

Ah welcome… and thank you for taking a look at our media kit :)

Before we show you all the cool stuff, please accept this drawing of a Unicorn-dinosaur as a token of our appreciation. His name is Dragon McDragonface and you may keep him regardless of whether or not you cover us. No, it’s not a bribe!

(He loves you)

Prelude — Why do we want to reinvent storytelling?

Through stories we convey meaning, wisdom and knowledge across generations. It is a medium through which we entertain ourselves. We use it as a form of expression, education and art. Telling stories is an inherent social quality that every human shares. It is in our DNA.

We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories. — Jonathan Gottschall

We believe that everyone has a story to tell. With TaleAStory we want to make the process of creating stories as easy, fun and engaging as the tales themselves. By doing so we hope to persuade even the most reluctant writers to come and share their creative stories with the world.

We can’t wait to read all the original, crazy and exciting stories that people will come up with, together! :)

Chapter 1 — What is TaleAStory?

TaleAStory can best be described as a word game, made for storytellers. At it’s core, it is a tool made for those who like to express and explore their imagination and creativity through words. The app gives you and your friends the power to write short stories together, starting with “once upon a time”. Each author can write up to 260 characters per move and witness the story unfold.

Such a story could be about Seal Team 6 travelling back in time to fight the Roman Empire or about Space-Vikings trying to rescue their home planet from a hostile Pokemon invasion. It’s your story, you decide where your adventure will take you.

The only limit is your imagination.

After the story is completed, you can publish and share it with your friends and the world. Exciting isn’t it :)

But wait…there’s more!

Rather than just creating an app for simply telling stories, we decided to gamify the experience. And this is how it works:

COINS: Earn coins by using bonus words, answering fast, and having original, creative and detailed responses.

BOOSTERS: Use your coins to buy boosters in the shop. Use boosters to battle your friends and gain the upper hand. Steal coins, skip turns and much more.

WINNER: After 48 turns a story ends. The person with the most coins at the end of the story wins.

We designed TaleAStory so it can also be used for educational purposes (learning 1 of 10 languages) as much as it can be used for fun. Additionally, if you’re up for it, you can submit your stories to an ever growing variety of different challenges, and if you’re lucky, have them become part of an ebook series, which we will launch.

Chapter 2 — Who made TaleAStory?

Credentials: We’re the guys behind the viral hit called Pooductive. It was our first app and was featured on international TV ranging from England, Germany, France and Australia to Ireland and Holland. Press such as The Guardian, Mashable, Wired, Huffington Post, Vice and Daily Mail, amongst many others wrote about it. Furthermore the viral success of Pooductive led to a partnership with United Nations- Water to help raise awareness for improved sanitation in developing nations.

About the founders: My name is Ricardo Gruber. Together my co-founder Rusmin Causevic and I have taken it upon ourselves to start our second and subsequently most ambitious project yet. We’ve been working on TaleAStory for almost half a year.

Rusmin is in charge of everything technical, ranging from backend implementation to front end development. I manage everything to do with UI, UX, product development and marketing.

We embody everything and anything to do with iOS and Android. After conceptualizing the initial idea and receiving far more passionate feedback than we could have asked for, we set out to build TaleAStory. Our goal from the very beginning was to create a different kind of social medium; one that looks to foster creativity and pushes people to think outside their everyday lifestyle, together.

A feature on betalist as the most popular startup helped us get hundreds of early adopters onboard and expand our beta test group to further refine the user experience. We are beyond proud to have created TaleAStory and hope the app will inspire people the same way it has inspired us.
