Summer is almost over, and as we are all slowly coming back from vacation and returning to our normal lives, we turn to local escapes and pleasures to spice this bittersweet period. The French call this time of the year “la rentrée” — it usually signals the end of summer and beginning of the school year, and it’s a time of both nostalgia and excitement.

Summer holidays are sadly over, but there is also joy over children returning to school, restaurants returning to their normal schedules, and that sense of a new beginning floating in the air. If you live in Paris or happen to be passing by, look no further than the the 1st arrondissement for your next stop.

Tamara is officially opening on August 25th

Tamara is officially opening on August 25th, and we’re looking forward to showing you what we’ve been lovingly working on for the past months: a neo-bistrot that doubles as a wine bar and serves dishes made from local and seasonal products.

The food

Come with loved ones and share plates and a bottle of wine from a handpicked, balanced offering. In our kitchen, the product is the star because we choose locally sourced, very high quality ingredients served simply but with a twist. The menu generously offers alternatives for everyone: vegetarian dishes, fish, meat, and delicious desserts.

Our chef Clément believes the star of the plate is the product (and so does our founder, Andreea, who acquired this tast from her love story with Japan). If the product is high quality, fresh and tasty, it’s a pity to overly cover it with other flavors.

Clément’s creations perfectly embody this philosophy, bringing the best out a fish, a piece of meat, a vegetable… through creative twists and a perfect balance between salt, umami and acidity.

The wine

We serve natural wine — a significant trend in 2020, and offer our guests a balanced selection of both established brands and wines from less known, new producers. We work with multiple distributors and producers to avoid having a generic wine menu, and instead bring a variety of cépages and assamblages.

The wines pair very well with our menu, and our sommelier Nicolas is here to help you choose a bottle in your taste — or why not, encourage you to try something new.

What to expect

“As an enthusiastic restaurant goer myself, I’m seeking a complete experience. Great food is a must but by no means enough. I cannot conceive an enjoyable dinner without an interesting wine. And the atmosphere is a huge aspect: the music, the smiles, the relaxation. I find all too often there’s a missing piece in respects with these expectations.

With Tamara, I want to offer my customers what I greatly enjoy myself, a place with top-notch food, delicious, eclectic wines, a casual but stylish vibe. The opposite of boring in all aspects :-)”

— Andreea Barroca, Tamara founder

The grand opening

We’ve planned a festive evening in the spirit of la rentrée — an event that is about more than just food and drinks. A night where you interact with people that share your tastes, be it friends or other customers or staff. But it can be even more than that, a place where you can discover art, communities, initiatives.

Friday, August 28th, between 6 and 11 PM we will be waiting for you at 15 Rue de Richelieu, Paris, IDF, 75001. Reserve your spot on through our website today: https://bartamara.com/events/bulles.

What next?

Tamara will be hosting pop-ups or expositions from local artists or artisans. A great opportunity for our customers to discover artists that are not mainstream, and for the latter to broader their audience. For the first month we host an excerpt of Jean Bocheaux’ Ants exhibition. The following month it will be the turn of the collective Les Artistes de Belleville. And we have many exciting ones to come.

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and visit our website to be the first to find out about our next events.
