It should be noted that the formal ethics code likely applying to Blum more directly is the Code of Ethics for Science Writers by the National Association of Science Writers, of which she was president in 2002.

While much shorter, it too includes strict guidelines about verification, disclosure about conflicts of interest and correction of false reporting. However, the latter only mentions “mistakes” which I suspect doesn’t apply here.
