The Chengdu Experience
Trains are so much more comfortable than planes. (Sorry I haven’t written in a while, no connection.)
Chengdu was full of old friends……. And faces I could not remember. I mean, last time I came to Chengdu I was like what, four or five? Six, maybe? I’ve completely forgot what everyone looked like. When I posted on Instagram a picture of me with some of those friends, I realized, why is every one of my Chinese friends older than me? All my cousins are over 20, my brother is 21, All the friends I made in Shanghai and Chengdu are also over 20. The only friend that isn’t 20 is Larry but he’s like 18 or 19. I’m like the youngest out of everyone.
Well, there is reasons for being the youngest. In China, you are only allowed to have one kid, kind of sad huh? So it makes sense that there’s no one younger because those kids were already born. But what I don’t get is why everyone decided to have their child almost around the exact same time? I mean there’s a 25+, 25+, 25+, 23, 22, 21, 21, 20, and then there’s me at 14.
Anyways, back to the Chengdu topic, I ate a lot of spicy food, and a lot of 蒜泥白肉. Everyone knew I liked that dish, so every time we went to a restaurant my friends would always ask if there was 蒜泥白肉. Speaking of restaurants, I’ve eaten way too much in China. Back home, going to a Chinese restaurant was an occasional thing. Here it seems like a daily thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My friends say that when guests come over that they have to make sure that the guests eat till they are full. I’ve probably gotten myself full like 5 times a day.
Not only was my stomach full, but my days were full also. I went to a lot of historical places, rivers, buildings, etc. And I would try to understand what the guide was saying, but I’m not completely fluent with my Chinese so I probably missed some important stuff that was said. I’ve also gone to a lot of Three Kingdoms historical places, because I’m a big fan of history and Dynasty Warriors.
I’m taking the train to Chongqing where my grandma lives and god, trains are so much better than airplanes. More leg room, huge isle, can use electronics whenever, bigger seats, and freedom. Plus, I get both seats to myself >:D.
