T in T: Get Ready to Leave your Comfort Zone!

Mambo! Finally arrived in Arusha. Here is the view from my hotel window:

This is Mt. Meru (4,565 m), the little brother of Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), the landmark mountain of Arusha — pretty “dominant” wherever you are in Arusha.

Being a passionate hiker — just been on a pretty similar mountain in North Africa last year, I clearly see an analogy: The Social Sabbatical will be like hiking a mountain.

When we hiked Toubkal last year, we pretty much enjoyed it, but the last 200 m above 4,000 m were exhausting, air was thin and every step was cumbersome. On top and also on the last miles of the 12 hours walk, we were all beyond our comfort zone. We clearly only made it because we were a great team — we helped and motivated each other, to ensure that we all reach the top. But it was more than compensated with the views on top, the experiences on our hike and the pride that we have made it!

So I prepare myself to leave my comfort zone while being on the Social Sabbatical. There will be for sure many challenges, as I will not work on my domain expertise, I do not know the market, limited to NO infrastructure……

But I am confident that it will be worth it!
