As a person who is fairly intimate with the “boots on the ground” of fiber optic on a city wide scale. I love this article. This is the kind of things I want to see from you guys. It’s an uncomfortable economic fact that it is insanely expensive to pull fiber, maintain network infrastructure, and continue to upgrade service unless you have a HUGE reserve of cash, or have a diversified business infrastructure like big ISP.

Let me be clear, ISPs make truckloads of money after they are allowed to restructure their debt (comcast@home, member that?) or are allowed to charge exorbiant prices in markup due to lack of competition. They are all scumbags, and Google Fiber is a noble goal, but unless ISPs can work like cooperative utilities, nothing is going to change.
