In today´s world we want to find all relevant information right at our fingertips whenever we open our phone. Users increasingly expect to be served with relevant information instead of actively having to search for it. As a consequence notifications will replace the app icon as standard entry point.
Yes, notifications will dominate mobile consumption. But there is a lot of room for improvement. The user experience of today´s notification panel is not very satisfying.
At TapDeck we aim to lift the notification experience to a new level. We are extremely excited to announce that the new version of TapDeck is now available on Google Play.
TapDeck transforms your wallpaper into a magazine
With its text-centric approach and limited functionality the user interface of the notification panel is clearly outdated. Especially for media related content a high degree of visuality is critical for a good user experience. A picture is worth more than a thousand words.
TapDeck uses the mobile device´s most prominent window to create an entirely new notification experience: the wallpaper.
Instead of polluting your notification panel with text notifications TapDeck delivers you the latest content in a purely visual way. TapDeck updates you about the most relevant content from your favorite sources by automatically changing your wallpaper image.
You can also actively change your wallpaper by simply double taping on the home screen. Whenever you want, as often as you want. TapDeck is a endless stream of relevant content.
What is really special about TapDeck is the ability to access contextual content right from the home screen. In case you are interested in your current wallpaper a simple swipe up opens a view containing the information behind the image.
Our goal is to create the same experience as flipping through a magazine. Therefore the contents dropped to your wallpaper are carefully curated.

Beside its visual interface TapDeck dramatically improves another flaw of the notification panel: accessibility.
The notification panel is limited to apps already installed on the device . In order to receive notifications you have to download the respective service. What a horrible user experience.
TapDeck´s platform approach enables you to be notified about your favorite sources without having to download the respective apps. Just follow your favorite publishers and their content will be integrated into your wallpaper feed.
With the new version you can choose from 500 carefully selected publishers and thousands of curated topic collections.
Our goal: establish TapDeck as a standard way to discover content.
TapDeck started as a nice and fun to use wallpaper app. Half a year later 120.ooo users have changed nearly 20 million wallpapers.
We are very surprised by this usage taking into account that the previous versions contained only a limited set of content sources. Our goal is to establish TapDeck as a standard way to discover content. For that we need your combined support.
