The problem is, the far-left is stronger now than ever before, and fears of its rise are therefore legitimate. Talk of ‘from each according to his ability, to each according to his need’, abolishing capitalism and creating a post-capitalist society, collective ownership of the means of production etc. seems to be everywhere now. This is not new deal welfare liberalism, right?
Perhaps the supporters of social democracy need to clearly distance themselves from the far-left. Otherwise, people WILL be scared.
