If you haven’t recognized anything in the above paragraph you need to stop going outside, download Snapchat and add DJ Khaled — djkhaled305. DJ Khaled is a Disc Jockey, A record label executive (we the best) and a hype man radio personality. On Snapchat, DJ Khaled will provide you an elaborate insight into his daily life. Starting with what Chef Dee, (his chef) makes him for breakfast. She doesn’t seem fulfilled and has a resting bitch face whenever she’s on camera. Breakfast meals consists usually of turkey sausage, egg whites, and of course WATUHRR. Man I might be bagging on this guy but kudos for opening up his life and generating content for others to make fun off or get inspired from. Thanks to Snapchat DJ Khaled who has managed to stay relevant in the mainstream hip hop game has now elevated his career and brand to the next level. Now on to…

THE GOOD

  1. DJ Khaled’s intention is to inspire you, to motivate you. To come with him on this collective journey of success. You feed off his energy as he does yours. It’s that simple he wants you to be the best YOU, you can be.
  2. DJ Khaled works out, and flaunts it. On various episodes of “elliptical talk” he tells you if you put the time and work in, success will be yours. These rants and schemes are talked about whilst blasting DanceHall music a majority of which is Buju Banton. So if DJ Khaled is trying to be healthy and take it easy on his knee joints, you should too.
  3. DJ Khaled shows you that you should network, hustle, make moves and collaborate with people you want to collaborate. Increase your clout and influence in whatever capacity. For DJ Khaled this occurs in his places of business such as the studio, his restaurant Finga Lickin’ soul food known for it’s in house red velvet cake.
  4. DJ Khaled appreciates and shows love to his fans.
  5. DJ Khaled is all about loyalty and this is a testament to his Miami Heat Basketball club Fanship even after Lebron left.
  6. DJ Khaled encourages you to stay on top of your grooming game. Hydrate and moisturize your skin after taking a shower. Get frequent haircuts as it’s important to feeling good about yourself.
  7. DJ Khaled works really hard. I’m not sure at what but he works hard it. I think he makes beats? Therefore we need to work hard too.
  8. DJ Khaled encourages you to be true to yourself. Be yourself and enjoy yourself. Learn about yourself and be your true-self so people don’t lose out on what you have to offer the world.
  9. DJ Khaled encourages love. Love over everything. Love trumps hate. If they hatin on you, disarm them with love. Kill em with love.
  10. Finally DJ Khaled encourages you to ignore the “They”. For him the They could be Record Label executives, his mother, his wife etc. People who are naysayers and don’t want him to do what he wants. It’s allegorical in the sense that whatever your personal “they” are, you can fight and overcome them. PROVE YOUR “THEY” WRONG. Tellem you’re upto something but don’t tell them what. Work in silence and don’t share your process.

THE BAD

  1. You can’t tell if DJ Khaled is being genuine or if this is a major marketing ploy on a caricature he’s playing of himself. The situation reminds me a lot about Stephen Colbert and the ultra-republican-ignorant-christian man he was. To me there is an element of hypocrisy here that cannot be ignored.
  2. He does interviews for talk show hosts such as “Jimmy Kimble”. That tells me he doesn’t take time to do some homework about the platform he has been invited to speak on. A certain level of respect should be there when invited by a host. The least of which is knowing the proper name of the host.
  3. The level of celebrity he has should be used to occasionally make people aware of injustices around the world including his native Palestine. Nuff said.

THE UGLY

CELEBRATE SUCCESS RIGHT…THE ONLY WAY…

The really ugly aspect of DJ Khaled is his blatant product placement and self-plugs. When he keeps directing you to his WE DA BEST store to buy his sandals, shirts and other merchandise. There is nothing inherently wrong with this. Dude gotta make a living.

The only qualm I have is him pushing Ciroc Vodka, especially Green Apple flavor. DJ Khaled identifies himself as a Muslim. Now, no judgements here but I’ve never actually ever seen DJ Khaled take a sip of alcohol in his snapchats. He will toast, he will order it at his club booth, but he will not drink. He shows everything besides the physical act of drinking.

Which leads me to believe he doesn’t indulge in alcohol and thus following Islamic guidelines. But don’t profit or advertise something you, yourself, do not believe nor engage in. You have an impressionable following and that to me doesn’t sound right.

Irks me a little.
