Deedcoin has announced the addition of a new real estate broker to its rapidly growing network. The location of the agent is what makes it unique. With all 50 States already represented in the Deedcoin Network the company has added a broker partner in Puerto Rico.

Homar Real Estate located in San Juan joined the broker network to assist Deedcoin customers who are selling and buying homes. The agreement was finalized on March 19, 2018. Jacqueline Homar is the broker/owner of the agency.

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory with a population of over three million people. The island was decimated when Hurricane Maria caused over 90 billion dollars in damage last September.

“We are thrilled to be working with Homar Real Estate,” Deedcoin co-founder Charles Wismer said. “Expanding our network into Puerto Rico was very important to us. Hurricane Maria was devastating to the island and we are honored to play a role in the community’s recovery.”

Wismer and other key team members of Deedcoin witnessed the devastation first hand when they recently traveled to Puerto Rico for a series of blockchain conferences.

“Living in Florida I have witnessed damage from multiple hurricanes, but the destruction in Puerto Rico was devastating,” Wismer added. “We at Deedcoin know that the extensive migration of people off the island will cause a tremendous demand in real estate. The locals have been through a lot and we really want to do our part to create a positive impact on the economy as it rebounds.”

It is estimated that nearly 10% of Puerto Rico’s population has left the island due to the loss of their homes, record breaking power outages and a lack of clean drinking water. Experts predict that some of those people will return eventually, but the impact on the real estate market has already been felt and will continue for years to come.

Deedcoin utilizes a blockchain platform where customers purchase Deed tokens to negotiate discounts off real estate commissions. Instead of paying 6% to sell a house, Deedcoin offers agents that operate on as little as 1% commission. The company just announced that 100% of Deedcoin used to purchase or sell property in Puerto Rico will be donated to charities partnering with them on this project. Additionally, Deedcoin will authorize the sale of DEED during their whitelisting phase to those purchasing real estate in Puerto Rico during the recovery effort.
