What launching a website taught me about iterating.

Via Sydney Hill, Digital Marketer at Maestro

We recently launched a brand new look to our website. It was the first website launch I had been a part of from start to finish as a Digital Marketer for our team. All in all the project turned out well and our beautifully designed website and carefully crafted copy is now live for all to see. Signed, sealed, delivered, right? What’s interesting is that after we launched I realized the work had just begun. This website needs to be as dynamic as possible. I need to constantly investigate how our partners are finding us, what they like and don’t like about the website experience, and what questions are left unanswered. I need to continuously introduce small changes for the better.

It’s not very different from the advice we always give our partners — to create, evaluate and iterate. Or as we like to call it “Coffee, Create, Iterate” :) What good is a website that sits static for the next two years until we decide we need to make a new one? How do we show that our thoughts, strategies, and technologies grow and change, just like they do for our partners, if we don’t iterate?

From now on I will be constantly iterating. In fact, since launching we have already gone through two milestones of enhancements and updates; tweaking things to make it even clearer and more engaging for our partners. When you create something and then share it with the world — a website, an eLearning course, a mobile app — don’t miss out on the opportunity to iterate, to improve, and to make it better for your audience.
