Why Voice is the future?

New voice based apps are on the rise. Flyy is a voice based where you can record your voice instantly for up to 1 minute and post it (interestingly, you can also do so anonymously). I was suprised to hear so many interesting posts but I always wondered why would people use a voice based app opposed to text? Here are the six answers I came up with:

  1. Voice is a more natural and intimate way of communicating with others. It also saves time in most use cases. What do most of us do when we are excited/happy or upset? We have an urgency to tell someone about it: “shout it from the rooftops.”

2. To speak and to hear someone’s voice is one of our primal needs. A crying child is soothed either by his mother’s gaze or by her voice. Unconsciously, we equate voice with being comforted.

3. Voicing oneself is also empowering. Freud believes that when you voice yourself about whatever you are facing the issue no longer becomes psychosomatic.

4. Voice also increases empathy because you are able to instantly connect with someone by hearing the emotions in their voice. It makes the experience all the more human. This is the power of voice and it’s ability to bring us all closer together. (For example, Flyy is image free on purpose so that our ability to judge physically is hindered.)

5. It is also harder to be abusive with voice as opposed to text.

6. I also believe that the future is voice. As technology progresses we will have more on demand services, robots, self-driving cars etc. Human beings will crave a place online where they can be more intimate and feel connected on a deeper level. Voice technology is also improving rapidly so i think it is just the beginning of what the future holds for Voice.

Let me know what you think of the future of voice and voice based apps such as Flyy in the comments below.
