Nike to Release its Air MAG Power laced shoes this Year

Nike to release Nike Air MAG Power laced shoes similar to the ones shown in the movie “Back to the Future II”
The year 2015 has finally arrived, and so is the time for all the “Back to the Future” (a 1989 sci-fi film) fans to witness their much anticipated Marty McFly’s self-lacing sneakers. Nike is to release the Back to the Future Part II fame light-up, self-lacing sneakers this year as confirmed by the company’s Design and Special Projects Vice President, Tinker Hatfield Jr.
Though it is still not the time to have flying cars common, atleast one long waited gadget is to debut this year.
According to Nice Kicks — a sneakers website, Tinker Hatfield on addressing at the “AgendaEmerge”, a fashion trade show in Long Beach — California confirmed that the Nike team is to release the self-lacing sneakers sometime this year with no exact date revealed. This year marks the 30thanniversary of the original movie — “Back to the Future”.
As said by Hatfield at the presentation, the Nike team is working hard to get the MAG shoes with power laces released this year. Though he did not mention any exact date for the release he did say that there are still more than eleven months remaining for the year to end and that gives them plenty of time for it to happen.
It was Hatfield — the Nike designer who had created McFly’s shoes for the sci-fi film. Joining Nike in 1981, Hatfield has been responsible for most of the company’s iconic shoe designs that includes the self-lacing Nike MAG kicks of the Back to the Future II movie. Ever since the shoes were graced in the movie in 1989, shoe aficionados and the films fans campaigned to bring the shoes to life by the athletics apparel company.

The power laces of the shoe can tighten when someone steps into the shoe
As a partial answer, Nike in 2011 released only 1,500 Air MAG shoes that were similar to the ones showed in the film expect for that the Air MAG shoes lacked coveted power laces. It can be noted that Hatfield in February 2014 had first hinted about the possibility of the seemingly impossible shoe.
The shoe, like the film has also made a big reputation with Mark Parker, Nike CEO labeling them himself as “greatest shoe never made”.
Nike on filing Patents reveal an insight about the shoes’ tech and how they will work. The 29-page patent application is been posted at the Nice Kicks website for it to be glanced through. Interesting factor of the shoe is that it features “power laces,” these laces with motorized rollers present in the shoe’s sole can sense weight and when someone steps into the shoe, the laces get tighten.
