Lisette Kwong, the spokesperson for BlackBerry has not provided many details regarding the layoff or about how many workers will be affected by this initiative by the firm. As evaluated in September, fiscal year of 2014, the company has almost 7,000 employees.

Since the past ten years, BBRY fortunes have reduced to a great extent. The company which was a pioneer in selling smartphones has now been sidelined by Apple because of its smartphone-iPhone along with Samsung Galaxy range along with other smartphones manufacturers. So now, the company is trying its best to fight back and pave ts way to redemption according to a statement released by the company.

At this point latest BlackBerry update reports that the company certainly needs to come up with a strategy that can do wonders for them. Previously the company only targeted the corporate sector for their smartphones that created a sensation and soon their provided was highly sought after by the masses. They need to do something like that. However, they need to make sure that they cater to the demands of users now.

Bloomberg recently reported the company by stating, “We have made the decision to consolidate our device software, hardware and applications business, impacting a number of employees around the world.”

The company has finally started to focus on their product and have also streamlined the audience they wish to cater to, as reported by Blackberry news. So now their aim is to target finance related individuals and employees of highly sensitive institution by providing them a platform that is safer for communication. The company’s market share for smartphones has gone down by 1 per cent which they wish to change now.

John Chen, the chief executive officer of BBRY, is also working towards providing software solutions for large organization that will be compatible with other smartphones. This will help them generate a steady stream of revenues. The company knows that it might take time for them to redeem their position so now they wish to achieve their targets gradually by having a solid plan in the backend.

Hence, in a nutshell, BlackBerry knows where it lacks but it simply needs to focus on the loopholes so that they can overcome the shortcomings and fight back to redemption.
