Gazprom Neft has received the consent from the management of the parent company to assess the prospects for the production of oil rims in the largest fields of Gazprom.
The assessment of the prospects for the production of oil rims concerns the Bovanenkovskoye, Kharasaveyskoye and Urengoy fields and involves the drilling of exploration wells and the collection of seismic data.
The combined reserves of the Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields are about 7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. However, in addition to gas in these fields, there is also oil, which is difficult to recover.
Until recently, its extraction was impractical for purely economic reasons. However, with the introduction of a reduced (30 percent of the original) met rate for oil rims, the situation changed dramatically. The total volume of reserves of oil rims of all explored gas fields of Russia is about 7 billion tons.
