Austerity is where you cut public spending, so If you have less money for the police force then obviously you employ less officers and provide less equipment like vehicles.
This is more an attack on the system that protects Austerity. For the first example you gave, a way to this is to de-criminalize drug use. This has been done in Portugal and is very successful as they put there money in drug rehab and not prisons. This has actually helped as far less people die from drug problems as they are helped and treated, not neglected by the rotten system in the UK. This means you won’t have Police chasing peopleon drugs while there driving.
Secondly for the point about acid attacks, if you read the article I mention that yes, there does need to be work into how easy it is to buy and sell corrosive substances. I mention it when I say — “put strict regulations on the purchase and sale of corrosive substances used in these attacks.”
This is a attacked on a system that after the financial crash imposed an unnecessary policy of Austerity on its people. This leads to unrest in communities that have been hit and yes gangs form and people take drugs to deal with it.
I agree with you that the Police are being given a real hard time by a system that blames them for everything bad that happens on the streets and the cuts have made it really tough for the force. But to blame the people you have blamed, the people at the bottom with nothing to lose is the wrong way to go. Blame the people in power, the people who actually decide how are country is run (big coorporations and the banks), the people who can actually change things and make us safer.
And your bizzare assertion that this is the left’s fault is pointless considering the fact they have not been in power since the 1960’s when there was the highest rate of living standards ever seen in Britain.
