This Is How Bangalore Is Creatively Solving Its Problems!
While a new IT park, a flyover or a highway is built ever so often, Bengaluru is faced with many issues. Although those who are expected to take care of these issues have failed to do so, the force of the citizens has come together to tackle some of these problems and make a difference through creative solutions.

World Heritage Day becomes a day for change:
The city has lost a lot of its heritage to the developmental process and a recent report in the Economic times has placed the loss at about 55%. This year’s World Heritage Day celebrations in the city are focused on these issues. The exhibition, reports ET, is a part of an ongoing project that involves architecture students and heritage homeowners, who are working together for the conservation of these places.

The Ugly Indian takes charge:
The Ugly Indian, an anonymous group of volunteers has taken it as a mission to clean up the city through spot fix-ups. They have also installed dustbins called tereBins, urinals called the WonderLOO, and painted flyover and Metro pillars across the city. They have seen great success, and have also developed quite a fan following. Watch their TEDxBangalore talk here!

When Art comes to your rescue:
Artiste Baadal Najundaswamy installed a life-size model of a crocodile in a logged pothole on a busy street in his fight against potholes last year. Shortly after that, Namma Bengaluru Foundation installed an anaconda in a pothole. The BBMP took notice of these and promised action.
