Time Travel, Of A Sort
Yesterday I received a PM from an old friend in America who I went to college with.
She told me that she had just heard the song Stay by Shakespeare’s Sister on VH-1.

And I was instantly transported to the moment I first hear the song.
You see, I was once asked, by a woman who we hung out with but I personally didn't particularly like, if I was done being human. She claimed to have had a vision or a dream or something where a group of people asked her to ask me that. So she asked.
We all laughed and joked about it. And then this song came out.
I remember listening to the first few stanzas and thinking ‘Okay, good song…’ and then I kept listening and heard:
You’d better hope and pray that you make it safe
Back to your own world
You’d better hope and pray that you’ll wake one day
In your own world
And the rest of the song sort of came into focus. And 19/20 year old me felt like they were speaking to me, this band I had never heard of before. Today I would have immediately downloaded the album. In 199something I had to actually go to a store and buy it.
And, yeah, sometimes I am done being human. When I feel particularly unwell or one of the other of the governments I deal with as an Expat does something damaging to women or children or the disabled.
I am done.
Too bad I don’t seem to have where else to go or something else to actually be.
So I guess I’ll stick around for a bit longer.
