Edgy, innovative work Spencer with tremenduous potential I think for effecting transformative change. Congratulations. I am so glad there are people like you out there encouraging us into our more playful spaces — let’s rewire and create. Yeah! Thank you.
Beautifully written and a joy to read. I resonate strongly with many of the concepts you share — Self-as-instrument, accepting our multiple parts (while remembering our wholeness), self in-between selves, and the feeling of expansiveness that emerges when we continue walking into the unknown with all of our “selves.” Thank you for the work that you do and for sharing this article.
So awesome. I would have loved more specifics of what happened— as appropriate — around the triggered example in part 3, to get a sense of how this goes down for you. I find sticking to what’s actually happening (data I can see, hear, etc.) to be extremely effective for me to avoid spinning out into fantasy land.
Thanks for this; I find I resonate strongly with what you are saying as I am exploring my own shadow. I think you articulate the process clearly in this piece. And as Michael points out, a bit more tangible/concrete explanation or examples would help drive home your points and make this more powerful.
Rob… I’m writing as a Ten Directions alumni. I appreciate the central point your article makes: that at some stage in our professional development we must strike out and chart our own course. Indeed, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I’ve taken some of those risks.
