I’m one of those lucky folks who has enrolled in the PSLF program, taken the Dept of Ed’s offer of lower payments for years, and now my loan is higher than it was before I enrolled.

Is this my fault for putting my trust in the government, for sticking with a job at a non-profit where I could help my community rather than going to a different city where I could make more money? Is it my fault for trusting that with those lower payments, I could afford a mortgage, and now with the threat of the program ending, I’m not sure how I’ll be able to pay higher loan payments and my mortgage?

Yes, apparently this is all my fault, I’m getting what I deserve for being so stupid, and no one who has paid off their student loans cares. Thanks a lot for being so understanding, y’all.
