There is no doubt that this is a truly lovely design, well done for that, really. I can’t help but think though that its complete lack of advertising (one of IMdb’s greatest revenue streams, and the reason Amazon bought the site) is a bit of a cheat on your part, or at least an oversight.

For this to be a truly successful redesign it needs to embrace the issues of the current design and offer elegant solutions that work for the sites main objectives, not just for users but for the business itself as well. If you can create a design this beautiful that also stands the difficult tug-o-war of user Vs profit then I would be bowing my head with appreciation, as it currently stands it is nothing more than a pipe dream for an advertising free internet.
