How to Automate Your Gmail with MailShake!
Have you ever seen some of the cool deals App Sumo offers? If you have, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If not, then you really need to check them out. One of the things they do is offer select programs and apps and tutorials, you name it, from other companies — at ridiculously low prices or lifetime subscriptions. I’ve purchased a few of them in the past.
Just recently I saw a post on Facebook where someone shared they had just purchased an email marketing app called MailShake through an AppSumo deal. I was curious, so I checked it out. It was an awesome deal at $39 for a lifetime subscription. I think it’s normally $9 per month, but that’s pretty good too. So I purchased it.
But what is MailShake? The only way I can describe it is to say it’s like a mini email marketing solution that integrates with your Gmail account. To take the words right out of their mouth, MailShake will “Promote content, build relationships, and generate leads. All you need is a Google account.”
So why would I want an email marketing function in Gmail when I can use MailChimp or Aweber or Infusionsoft? Simple. You know when you come back from a small networking event, a MeetUp or an event where you come home with a few business cards but don’t really want to upload them to your bigger database? All you really want to do is follow up with a couple of emails to see where it takes you? Or when you speak with a prospective client who is really interested, but not quite ready to sign on the dotted line — so you want to send out a few follow-up emails to keep the conversation going?
How about an email marketing app that sends emails directly through your Gmail account?
Instead of having to remember to keep following up, you can automate it with MailShake. You upload your contacts from a .CSV file, then create a few follow-up emails just like you would in any other email marketing system. You set them to go out at specific intervals (days, weeks, months). When someone replies, it stops the sequence for you. You can also see when your email was delivered and when it was opened. Meanwhile … all of these emails are taking place right within your Gmail account! You can also set up specific emails to stop when someone clicks on a link — like your online scheduling calendar. Then you simply carry on your conversation through Gmail as you would normally. What’s especially nice about MailShake is you can preview each individual email going to a specific person and customize it based on anything specific to that contact. You could say something like “It was great to learn about your passion for cooking,” or “I really enjoyed talking to you about your new puppy!” You can be that specific for the emails going out to each person.
I’ve only used the system a couple of times, but am so impressed with how it has performed, I’ll be using it again. For me, it takes email marketing to an entirely different level by making it so incredibly simple and easy to use. Now I just need to figure out the many different ways I can incorporate it into my business to simplify my follow up even more!
