People love to have other people support their beliefs. They may feel betrayed or let down if you change your mind and stop agreeing with them, especially in emotionally charged areas of belief like religion or politics. Your change of mind is now an attack on their beliefs.

Beliefs are a human bonding mechanism, and sharing beliefs gives us a sense of belonging. Changing your mind can be frightening and lonely.
