Agree — if we drop C we lose our “roots”. It’s hard to get back that without a good reference.

C for sure isn’t sexy, and there’s a lot that you have to do to get work done in it. But, I also see it as an opportunity to apply concepts learned in higher, more abstract languages, and make it something where people can be highly productive and quick in it.

Wouldn’t be breaking any rules to do that — C doesn’t have an “identity” to adhere to like other languages.
