To Tweet or not to Tweet — That is the question!

Twitter, it’s a online networking outlet where people post or tweet various messages and images as they wish.…hmm something I’d tried before, but never really grabbed hold of. I’d always figured it was just another social media outlet and a place to follow celebrities.

During my digital media class today I learnt the many wonders of Twitter and the wonderful world of PLN (Personal or Professional Learning Networking). Which broadened my view on Twitter and all it’s glory!

So here I am, Twitter account created and ready to roll. I gotta say I’m excited about all the Education networking but nervous about how consuming this maybe.

Pro— PLN! Professional Learning Networking is a group of people who connect and communicate, sharing information and ideas. Twitter is great for PLN! I’ve only had a Twitter account all of 3hrs and have seen plenty of lesson planning ideas.

Con- Time consuming. Twitter constantly updates and refreshes new posts. Will I spend hours surfing and learning and reading? My poor children will need their own Twitter to get a hold of me :-/

Pro — I can log off, the same way I choose not to constantly read my facebook newsfeed.

Pro — PLN! The amount of learning I can do from others is endless. I am such a great slow cooker chief since joining a slow cooker facebook group. haha. Thank God for Personal Learning Networks and slow cooked meals!!

I figure I can also impact or benefit someone else life through the things I choose to post. The types of PLN I choose to join can become more refined if need be, like Christian Education or Special Education. I cannot wait to learn from the wonderful teachers who are out there today already in the midst of it.

At the end of the day it’s only as personal as I make it. I hope to simply use it as a PLN tool. Much like a researching tool, an encyclopaedia or website.

So after some serious evaluation, here I am. Ready TO TWEET!!
