The Art Dept. is excited to announce a collaboration with StackOS to host our mint website — to mint our first generative NFT art collection Monday! The ease of using their platform to deploy our web application and quickly iterate on new features gave us the building block we needed to move forward at a fast rate.

One key feature we appreciated was the granular control we were given for our containerized application. Users of StackOS are given the opportunity to control their CPU, Memory, and Replicasets. Replicasets in a nutshell is the ability to run multiple instances of our web app concurrently, and the platform is smart enough to forward the traffic to different instances. When you need something reliable to handle thousands of people accessing a website at once, this is a much-needed feature.

Another key feature that was important to our success was the shell feature. It gave us an insight into the deployment space, and access things like logs, SSH into the actual container, and restart our application quickly if something was wrong with the container. Docker is an industry-standard technology used in companies like Netflix, Google, Youtube, and Amazon. It allows users to wrap their applications into a container, which makes the runtime environment as lightweight as possible. Rather than including any extra packages that could lead to vulnerabilities, you only need what your application runs on. Docker gives you the flexibility of deploying on bare metal datacenters, GCP, AWS, Azure, and any cloud provider of your choice with the same runtime expectations. We chose StackOS rather than these big corporations because we believe in decentralization. The Art Dept. believes in supporting companies in the blockchain space because we are a part of this community, and we strive to support other companies that are solving a huge problem for all of us, the underlying infrastructure.

The last feature of StackOS that intrigued us was the ability to tie in our DNS provider. Whether that’s Google Domains, Cloudflare, Namecheap, or whatever you are using, StackOS supports it. It is as simple as creating a txt record with your wallet address to verify you own the domain, and the rest is magic. StackOS verifies that it can route the traffic to the domain, and once we publish an A record the full end-to-end setup is complete.

Our plan is to utilize StackOS to deploy all of our current and future projects. We formed a strong bond and want to work with the team to improve the development, continuous integration, and front-end features that are available to developers using the product. Ensuring that current and future developers’ needs are heard while finding other features that we as developers/ consumers can benefit from.

Any company or startup in the space should definitely consider StackOS. It has made our lives easier while focusing on features rather than the infrastructure hosting our applications. Removing the infrastructure burden allowed us to focus on the art of FANTASMAS, and deploy our application in under 15 minutes. We are a proud customer of StackOS, and look forward to continuing our support for a strong company in the blockchain industry.

About The Art Dept.

We are an artist collective trying to save our culture by preventing climate change through NFT art auctions which support climate action.

With the symptoms of man made climate change staring us right in the face: heat waves, fires, floods, pandemics, and most importantly the extinction of over half of the worlds species — the future is looking grim. So what can we do? Studies show that a vast majority of the world’s pollution is produced by just 100 companies. We fear the individual actions we have been trying are just not enough. Even if we recycle, ride our bikes to work, build permaculture homesteads and become vegans — these actions seem futile in the face of the overwhelming power of multinational conglomerates and the never-ending greed that drives them. We are forming a community on Discord centered around positive action. Please join us, let’s do this together!

About the FANTASMAS Collection

The FANTASMAS Collection is a compilation of those things we love and want to keep alive — icons of our culture that represent who we are through the media that shaped us. They’re the movies and tv shows we grew up watching together, the tunes we bobbed our heads to, the games that kept us up late at night. They are the stories we want to pass down to our children and to future generations. These are the things we’ll lose if we can’t get our collective shit together.

About StackOS

We aim to provide the world with “The Unstoppable Infrastructure Protocol”, which will allow any person across the world to deploy their application without incurring heavy cloud management costs and freely run any application they wish to run. StackOS furthermore intends to help brick and mortar businesses around the globe, to go online cost-effectively and securely with minimal technical overhead.
