I have worked with many Brilliant Jerks in my 20+ year career in tech. Once I heard complaints from three of my female employees after a meeting with one of the BJ’s. I was not in attendance. I got their stories and called HR for advice. They said oh don’t worry, he’s a jerk to men too. He was an equal opportunity asshole! Later he was promoted to Director. Great! Reward the BJ, that’ll show him!
One of the other notorious BJ’s at the company was promoted to CTO. This, after regularly berating women and minorities in public meetings. Awesome!
