My Belief System Crashed When My Rapist Was Let Go

Derin, sister, I truly + sincerely appreciate you for this piece. From one brown beauty to another, you are beautiful and worthy and valued!!!

Your writing is so real and open. I felt like I was looking in the mirror at parts of my own experience; I cried… Not because it took me back, but because I can count on a single hand the number of brown women I’ve encountered who have not experienced sexual violence at some point in her lifetime. Violence against black , female bodies needs to be addressed — I agree with Ms. Davis, a movement is in order.

Your resiliency is an inspiration, thank you and be well.
