JUNE HAVER
June Haver was born, Beverly June Stovenour, on June 10, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois. She died of respiratory failure in Brentwood, California on July 6, 2005.
Her parents divorced at an early age and June was adopted by her new stepfather, Bert Haver.
All three of them moved to Cincinnati, where June appeared in her first stage production “Midnight in a Toyshop” at the age of six. Soon after, June was winning musical contests around Cinncinati.
By 1936, at the ages of ten, little June and her mother returned to Illinois. It was here that June began to develop her talents as a singer and actress, appearing on local radio various musicals.
Eventually, apparently without Mr. Haver, June and her mother found their way to the entertainment mecca of Los Angeles. She attended high school there and at the age of 16 (in 1942) June Haver signed with Fox Studios as one of their fringe actresses.
Quickly, young Miss Haver found herself appearing in several films. However, she soon landed a substantial role in Irish Eyes Are Smiling (1944).
In 1945, at the age of 19, she appeared in Where Do We Go from Here? (1945) with future husband, Fred MacMurray, who she wed in 1954.
In 1947, June along side of the rising star of the year, Marilyn Monroe, in Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! (1948).
This was one of the starting vehicle’s for a rising talent named Marilyn Monroe.
By 1949, it was obvious that Fox Studios was grooming Haver to take over the throne held by Betty Grable.
There was so much cross over between June and Betty that Haver’s nickname became “The Pocket Grable.”
June stood at just 5.1′ to Betty Grable’s slightly more statuesque height of 5.’4
In a dramatic move, June Haver announced in 1952 that she would be leaving Hollywood for good so that she could… become a nun.
She did exactly that. However, she stayed at the convent for only a few months.
After she left, June soon began dating Fred MacMurray.
They were wed, and the couple adopted twin girls. MacMurray and Haver’s marriage lasted 37 years, until Fred’s death in 1991.
June’s last foray into the glare of the camera lights was when she played herself in the television production of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (1957).

June Haver was briefly married to bandleader Jimmy Zito. They tied the knot in 1947 but divorced the following year.
WILLIAM EYTHE…
June Haver was also involved with actor William Eythe.
They worked together on the film “I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now” (1947) and were romantically linked during that time.

JUNE HAVER’S CAREER
Here’s The One Movie Fred and June Made Together 9 years Before They Married. They Had Great Chemistry. She was 19. He was Married to his First Wife Who Died of Cancer.
This was the first and only time June Haver and Fred MacMurray worked together. They eventually married in 1954. Fred was married at the time he did this movie and June was only 19 years old.
Fred’s first wife died of cancer in 1953. He married June the next year.
Fred MacMurray stared as World War II military reject Bill Morgan, in ‘Where Do We Go From Here’.
June Haver, played Lucilla Powell. Watch below as they clearly had some real chemistry even back then.
This musical number was directed by Gregory Ratoff and featured music by Kurt Weill and Ira Gershwin.
There are many more June Haver movies on youtube to indulge in. Movies back then were more about entertainment and appreciating men and women. It’s a good reminder of the male/female dynamic.
