Why dressing sharp is fundamental #fashion

Nearly 1/5 year ago I took some workshops on Pick Up. I wrote in brief about my story on another blog post and explained how I got into this.

When I attended the PUA workshops a coach mentioned to us how important it’s to dress and look sharp, Neil Strauss in his book The Game mentions a lot of times that grooming is fundamental. Hey even successful business people say how important is grooming. I had no bloody idea about style, I thought that I was stylish by having a pocket square. I always wanted to look nice and look sharp, I even created a Pinterest board for me on how I want to look.

The Before Picture (2014)

After all the workshops, reading books I decided to invest in clothing, I bought myself a new suit and some other accessories. I thought I looked HOT. I liked brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Hilfiger. You get the point.

This is how I looked

As you can see on the pictures this is how I looked, I was very happy and confident in my clothing. One day I was fortunate enough to meet an amazing lady that is a fashion icon, S4DE_U.

She absolutely transformed the way I look at clothes and brands. She showed me how I should wear clothes. And how you wear them is important because it’s not what you wear it’s how you wear it. She taught me fashion basics, an example is that you shouldn’t wear socks with shoes (if you want), your shirt has to have 3 buttons opened or buttoned up and other tips.

She showed me how I should walk, the attitude, the demeanour. I’m so grateful that she took the time and effort to educate me. There are so many things that you can learn about fashion and brands, you will be amazed. We went to Bicester Village (Designer Outlet) in Oxford and shopped around. She showed me how to evaluate quality clothes from cheap clothes even with well known brands. I got introduced to Alexander McQueen which now I absolutely love. My favourite blazer is from Alexander McQueen which I love.

Did you know that even if you buy well known brands it doesn’t mean quality? You have to understand quality. There are some clothes that I got from Hong Kong that are not branded but the quality is amazing.

I understood the value of well known designer brands and how it impacts everything. I will give you an example, now I can understand quality clothing and I could tell the difference between Ted Baker trousers vs Zara Trousers. You can see it, when somebody wears it and when you wear them. I bought Charles Tyrwhitt trousers and I love them. I learned that you need to take the trousers in to be exact. One day I bought Zara trousers and after wearing them I realised that the material was different, the fitting was different and now I don’t like them.

Me in June 2015 in Covent Garden.

After the clothing part I changed my hairstyle as well, I started going to a posh hairdressers (Ted Baker in Convent Garden). I started taking care of my facial hair as well. Grooming in general. When you start looking after yourself you feel different. We all have to love ourselves. Because once we start looking after ourselves our whole world changes. It’s not about dressing up and looking good for any woman it’s getting dressed up for us guys. It’s not them. Because if we dress up for them it will not last. We need to want to change and look fabulous.

There are a lot of benefits of dressing sharp. Once I started dressing sharp strangers started giving me compliments on a daily basis. People started looking at me different. It’s great getting compliments from women, but when men come up to you and say I like your style, or your shoes you know you are on the right path.

When you start getting compliments and looks from people your self esteem goes up and you start getting obsessed with it. Don’t get me wrong, my wardrobe is not where I want it to be yet and I have a huge road to climb in front of me and I’m working on it.

I went to a meeting in an Embassy couple of months ago which included very important people. One gentlemen said to me that my shoes where amazing! They were from Bally (picture below). After few months he emailed me for a meeting, when we met he complimented me for my dress sense and said that he liked my style a lot. He said that it’s very important for me in the business I’m in to be dressed stylish because that’s how you brand yourself. And this is how he remembered me. This is very true, it’s how we brand ourselves.

Shoes from Bally.

We can have a look at the most iconic fashion men, which is David Beckham. If you look at his pictures in his early carrier you will be amazed on how he and Victoria evolved in fashion.

My point in this blog article is that we all need to evolve and dress stylish. Even when we don’t feel like it. Style is a way to say who you are.

I started following on Instagram fashion icons, websites that give me fashion tips, listening and reading more about fashion and of course S4DE_U made a huge impact on my dressing sense and I can’t thank her enough.

I would highly recommend to you to start looking at the way you dress, communicate and start improving because your life will change, I promise.
