What draws you to be an entrepreneur?

That my job as a CEO changes every three months. We are constantly growing and evolving because we are perceptive and nimble. The most exciting part is getting the team excited and seeing their eyes light up when they see us achieve our goals.

What is your company?

Bottlefly is generates personalized food and wine recommendations to shoppers using AI and flavor chemistry.

How did your company come to be?

I went to Cal Poly University, which is located in the wine region of central coast California. I worked in a winery and didn’t like how you could have the same wine that we made be put in two different bottles under two different brands, and one of the wines would be rated 93 points by Wine Spectator, and the other 89 points. I thought that there must be a better and more objective way to score wine. So, I analyzed the chemistry and took my hypothesis to a computer science Phd. He found that I made something that could benefit the field of machine learning, so we worked in partnership to develop technology to recommend wine.

What’s your big dream for Bottlefly?

I want Bottlefly to be the trusted wine scoring authority of the future. I want people to benefit from having a curated selection and a personalized shopping experience.
