Passion Plus Skills Equal Profit
Find your passion and continue to get better and better at it. Then the profits will flow.

First, you have to know what you want to do. Not have some idea, you have to REALLY know it. Want to know what your passion is? When your eyes first open in the morning, before you start scrolling on Instagram, there’s a thought that passes through your brain. Before you get some rest, after your body has finally relaxed, that same thought will appear once again in your mind. Whatever that activity or idea is it’s most likely connected to your passion.
I like to describe passion as something you can’t live without. For me, it’s writing and basketball. Every single day of my life I write. Even if it’s just in my journal, I write every single day. Sometimes my house will be completely quiet on a Friday night and I’ll be typing away. Basketball is slightly different. I don’t always have to be on the court. Watching and analyzing the game gives me this feeling of purpose. The debates are entertaining as well. Without writing and basketball, it would be extremely difficult for me to remain sane.
After you know what your passion is, now it’s time to develop skills. Now more than ever, we have access to vast amounts of information and technology. Anything we want to discover or research can be found at our fingertips. There really isn’t a reason for you not knowing anything you want to know.

Now for some careers and passions, you’ll be required to attend college. The Internet can’t teach you surgery or everything about science. But for almost everything else, the information to develop necessary skills is readily available.
And don’t be discouraged. When I was younger, my parents would always tell me to stop spending so much time playing video games because they wouldn’t pay bills. Now, there are professional vidoe game players! Their career is to develop and create games and they get paid handsomely for it. No career is unreachable.
“If you’re good at something, someone will pay you for it.”
This is also where the work comes. Malcolm Gladwell explained his ten thousand hour theory perfectly. If you want to be great at something, you must do it repeatedly, consistently and to the best of your ability. NBA players don’t get there simply by wishing for it. They’re constantly looking for ways to improve and reach the next level.
Lastly, you have to Grow to Your Goals. If you want to do anything you have to get better and better. The improvement never truly stops. For example, if you made two million dollars doing what you love, would you stop there or continue? Most people will continue and double their payout. Growth is a never-ending process.
“If you only do it for money, you’ll never make a lot of money.”
As far as monetizing your passion, that’s easy. If you’re good enough, they’ll find you. Another tip: do it for free. I know it sounds crazy, but everything I’ve been good at and done for free eventually gets me paid. You start out putting in work, attempting to climb the rankings. The path to success is rigorous but worth it.
Never do anything solely for the paycheck. If that’s the main reason you’re in it, you won’t last very long. There has to be a deeper purpose to your decisions.
Find your passion. Develop a high level of skills. Monetize.
