From the $91.50 University-Student Union Fee, students have access to the Xtreme Fitness Center.
The Xtreme Fitness Center offers up to date fitness equipment, personal training, and various group exercise classes, as well as locker rooms with showers.
Xtreme Fitness Manager, Josef Alayra, describes the atmosphere of the gym as “a clean place to work out, we always have several floor supervisors walking around reminding student’s about proper gym etiquette and are there to serve the student’s in advice or personal training, we’re a friendly helpful family here and we welcome in student’s who’d respect that.”
The Center can accommodate up to 171 students and has 12 treadmills, 10 elliptical cross trainers, 2 stair climbers, 12 stationary bikes, 1 stretch cage, various ab workout stations, 10 bench press stations, 2 squat racks, and 2 leg press machines.
The center also has free weights and students can check out bands, jump ropes, back supportive belts, and much more.
Jessica Valenzuela, 19, Public Health Major enjoys the gym and said, “I feel like it’s small enough to get things done and it’s a friendly environment, simplistic in nature and there is always someone there to help you out, I never feel uncomfortable here.”
This quarter the center will offer conditioning classes including Kung-Fu Self-defense, Boot Camp, Hip Hop, Latin Fusion Dance, Tennis, Yoga, Spin, Japanese Swords classes and much more.
Students are required to bring their own towel and dress in proper work out attire.
Student’s are greatly encouraged to bring in their own lock and may lock up their belongings either in the locker rooms or at the outside compact lockers.
The center is open Monday through Thursday from 7a.m. until 9:30p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 7a.m. until 7p.m. On Sundays the fitness center is closed.
